Tony Stewart had a year like very few people expected in 2009. After 10 successful years at Joe Gibbs Racing, Tony Stewart partnered with Haas Racing to become a 50% partner and form Stewart-Haas Racing. Performing well at almost every track, Tony put together several strings of top 5 and top 10 finishes. Tony grabbed the points lead after the 13th race of the season and held it for 13 more races right up to the Chase. Faltering in the Chase by finishing five of the ten races outside the top 10, Stewart finished the season out in 6th place.
Tony Stewart managed to wear his owners hat very well in 2009. In which I mean, he was able to remain cool, positive and even jovial every time I ever saw a camera focused on him. Contrast the calm and collected Tony in this video with the former “driver-only” Tony Stewart in this video.
With race cars powered with strong Hendrick engines look for Tony Stewart to once again have a strong season during 2010. Tony could be the first owner/driver to win the Cup Championship since Alan Kulwicki won it in 1992.
