Ryan Newman had his best year in 2009 in terms of his average finish position since his the 2003 season when he won 8 Cup races. Anyone remember that? Partnered with fellow Hoosier, Tony Stewart at Stewart-Haas Racing, Ryan seemed to once again be enjoying himself in NASCAR after his continual downward slide in performance with Penske Racing. Newman’s entry into the Chase for the first time in four years was bolstered by his team only having 1 DNF all season. The least ever in his career.
Ryan Newman will have snack food Tornado’s as his primary sponsor for five races in 2010. It is Ruiz Foods first foray into NASCAR sponsorship. It’s always a good thing to have new sponsorship money come in to teams. Eat ‘em up!
There is no reason to really think that Newman’s improved performance in 2009 was a fluke. Both he and Stewart performed well for their new team. Newman and crew chief Tony Gibson will be going into their second year together. By all reports the chemistry is good and hopes are high. I like Newman for a solid ‘B’ group driver to back up my number one guy.
