2010 Fantasy NASCAR Draft Kit: Robby Gordon

Robby Gordon

Robby GordonRobby Gordon is the lone-wolf of NASCAR. The little (albeit very rich) guy that continues to tough it out in the Series ‘his way’ as opposed to selling out to the man. As such, Gordon continues to put up unimpressive results in the NASCAR Cup Series. But hey, not every driver is going to perform to the level of Hendrick, JGR or Roush.

Robby is saying that he may only be able to run an 8-race schedule. “I don’t know what we’re going to do,” Gordon said. “We’re going to continue to work hard to sell races through March of next year. After that I’m looking at a lot of weekends off.”

Fantasy NASCAR Forecast

Robby Gordon kept his team in the top-35 in owners points in 2009 which is good news for him in 2010. He is guaranteed a starting spot in the first five races and can hopefully translate that into a solid spot in the standings thereafter. With Robby you just don’t know. He may only run 8 races as he says or he may run more. Gordon once was the driver that you selected for you fantasy NASCAR team to have on your roster to use at road courses. With so many top-tier Cup drivers now adept at road courses you don’t need Robby waiting in the wings anymore. The main value Gordon can bring to your team is if he runs the whole season. The group of drivers he is grouped with in most fantasy games will most likely have drivers not running a full schedule. That is where Gordon can benefit your team by at least being at the track and getting you an extra 61 – 93 points a week.
