If you had Matt Kenseth on your fantasy NASCAR team at the start of the 2009 season you felt like you had a driver of pure gold! Kenseth started out the season by winning the first two races (Daytona & Auto Club). Then came the third race of the season, Las Vegas, where Matt finished 43rd. Matt Kenseth finished 24 races outside the top 10 in 2009. It was also the first year he did not make the Chase for the Nextel Cup.
Matt Kenseth will roll out at the Daytona 500 in 2010 sporting a new primary sponsor, Crown Royal. He and second year Cup Series crew chief, Drew Blickensderfer, will get to return to the place it all started so successfully for them.
Matt Kenseth’s consistency has always been his strong suit. Remember, he was dubbed ‘a winning robot’ a few years back for his consistency. In fact, you can argue the Chase was born as a result of his consistency. I expect Kenseth (and Roush) to be back in form for 2010 making him a strong player to have on your NASCAR fantasy team.
