Mark Martin was having the “time of his life” during the 2009 NASCAR season. Which pretty much was his mantra while he was with Roush Racing too. What is certain though, is that during his first year with Hendrick Motorsports, Mark Martin truly appeared to be doing just that. With five race wins, 14 top-5’s and 21 top-10’s, Martin was a threat at most every track and finished out the season in second place, his best finish in seven years.
Going into their second NASCAR season together, crew chief Alan Gustafson and driver Mark Martin are well poised to have another good season. Expect to hear many references to “how the old man gets it done,” from the broadcast booth, crew chief and driver himself.
Selecting Mark Martin for your fantasy NASCAR team in 2009 may have seemed like an unproven gamble. But, if you had him you were pleasantly rewarded with great points totals. Fully expect Mark to continue his winning ways for the 2010 season. The dominant shop at Hendrick Motorsports should continue to put out top-notch equipment and the skill and experience of Mark Martin will use the Hendrick cars well. Crew chief Alan Gustafson on the pit box is icing on the cake.
