Jeff Burton’s 2009 season is one he’d like to forget in terms of his final NASCAR Cup Series standing position of 17th. Jeff isn’t unfamiliar with a finish in the teens though. Unfortunately, it is a cyclical thing for him even though he has been with premier teams like Roush Racing and Richard Childress Racing. He is not a victim of his own performance, but the up-down nature of the teams he is with. When your car is not performing like a top-10 car you get stuck racing back in the pack.
“I’ve hit more stuff this year than I ever remember hitting in my life. I look back on some of those things and certainly I could have done something about them. But a lot of them, the only way to miss them would have been to be in front of them.” – Jeff Burton on CBSsports.com
For Jeff Burton to be a solid performer on your 2010 fantasy NASCAR team it’s going to require that Richard Childress Racing gets back in the game this year. Jeff finished out the 2009 NASCAR season in top form. His last four races were all top-9 finishes with the last two races of the season in the runner-up spot. On stock market/salary cap games Burton’s purchase value could be quite reasonable and a great buy for what will hopefully be a better 2010 NASCAR season.
