2009 was a typical Elliott Sadler year. It was lackluster and under-performing. Sadler finished 26th in the 2009 NASCAR Cup series point standings. A few spots worse then the previous few years but with about the same numbers. Elliott had 1 top-5 and 5 top-10’s. Compare that to teammate Kasey Kahne (2 wins, 7 top-5 and 14 top-10’s) or even low man on the totem pole AJ Allmendinger (1 top-5 and 6 top-10’s). I don’t mean to be down on Elliott. He is a remarkably talented and entertaining guy in many aspects, especially stage-diving. Plus, not every driver is going to perform to the likes of Johnson or Gordon.
For the 2010 NASCAR season, Elliott Sadler is ironically returning to the team he had his most success with. With the merger of Yates Racing and Richard Petty Motorsports, Sadler is once again back with Doug Yates and Ford cars and engines.
Picking the tracks that Sadler will do good for you on your fantasy NASCAR team is tough. He seldom hits a streak of good finishes. Here is a good fantasy tip for you: If you need a steady finisher each week in the high 20s then Elliott Sadler is your man.
