David Reutimann had his best year in NASCAR Sprint Cup in 2009. David has made tremendous improvements since his inaugural year with Michael Waltrip Racing in 2007. Reutimann has improved 7 spots in his average finish each of the last two years. Plus, in 2009, David got his first top-5 finish. Not just one, but five! Plus, with a bit of assistance from Mother Nature, he scored his first Cup victory by winning the 2009 Coca-Cola 600.

Sponsors are taking note of David Reutimann’s improvements as well. In addition to his usual Aaron’s Dream Machine sponsorship, David will have sponsorship by Tums for five races and Best Western hotels for one race in the 2010 NASCAR Cup season.

Although I wouldn’t want to grab Reutimann as a lead of pick in a fantasy NASCAR draft, I might pick him up on my second round if I was pretty far down the drafting order. As a third round pick he is seriously solid. On other styles of fantasy NASCAR games, such as a stock market/salary cap, Reutimann might be a good driver to pick up at the start of the season since two of his best tracks are during the first seven races of the season.
