2010 Fantasy NASCAR Draft Kit: Brad Keselowski

Brad Keselowski

Brad KeselowskiBrad Keselowski only raced in 15 NASCAR Cup Series races in 2009 and already most fans, drivers (and broadcasters…cough…Jimmy Spencer) are divided on him. Check out this article and the comments. So, maybe Brad comes into the Cup Series and bring a little excitement like Kyle Busch? That may be a good thing. As for Keselowski’s 2009 Cup Series performance you can’t deny him the win at Talladega. He earned it and deserved it. He had three more top-10 finishes in James Finch and Rick Hendrick cars. Unfortunately, most of Brad’s worst performances came in the final three races in a Penske car. Penske is the team he will drive for in 2010.

Veteran crew chief Roy McCauley was to be Keselowski’s man on the box, but has already been replaced by Jay Guy.

Fantasy NASCAR Forecast

Brad is a good driver. By all rights he should be a two-time Nationwide Series Champion. Damn Buschwhackers! Being a new driver in the Series his stock value should be pretty low. So, in a salary-cap game you might take a chance on him. The first two races of the year (Daytona & Auto Club) are historically good tracks for Penske cars. You might come out with some value for him. Otherwise, in your group-style games you should stay on top of practice and qualifying results and then determine whether to roll the dice on Keselowski. I might pick Brad up in the fourth round of a fantasy NASCAR draft just in case he pans out. But, I wouldn’t cry if someone else got him first.
