Another prestigious win for Jamie McMurray at the Brickyard this past weekend. The win coupled with his Daytona 500 victory in February gives Jamie 2 of the most sought after wins in the Sprint Cup series in the same season. Not bad for someone who just joined the new team after last season.
This week the series heads back to Pocono for the running of the Pennsylvania 500. It was only a month ago that Denny Hamlin beat out Kyle Busch for the victory in the Pocono 500 so all of the teams should be prepared for this weekend's race.
Denny Hamlin: Denny won the race here in June and now has 4 victories in 9 starts at Pocono. He will be the driver to beat this weekend but, I don't know if anyone can pull off the upset.
Tony Stewart: Tony finished 3rd here the last time the series visited. He is getting better every week and has a very good record at Pocono. Tony has 9 top 10 finishes in his last 10 starts at this track and should be there at the end once again this week.
Juan Pablo Montoya: Juan struggled a little bit here when he first came to the series but now he has a pretty good handle on the track. He has finished in the top 10 in his last 3 starts here and seems to run well on the flatter tracks.
Jimmie Johnson: Jimmie is yet another driver who seems to run well here just about every race. Jimmie swept the races here back in 2004 and has only finished out of the top 15 one time in 17 races.
Mark Martin: Mark has never won here but has finished 2nd more times than he would like to admit. Mark is trying to battle his way into the top 12 and a spot in the Chase. Right now he sits in 13th place, 62 points behind Clint Bowyer for the final spot with only 6 races left before the Chase field is set.
Kyle Busch: Kyle finished 2nd last weekend but won the Nationwide race once again. He is a legitimate contender every week and on all types of tracks. Look for him to be in the mix once again this weekend.
Carl Edwards: Carl has been having a disappointing season according to his standards but is firmly entrenched in the Chase and the team looks to be getting better every week. Carl has won twice at Pocono and might make that one last step to get himself to victory lane this weekend.
Dale Earnhardt, Jr.: Dale has had his ups and downs this season and sits outside of the Chase looking in right now. He needs to make up almost 100 points and leap frog Mark Martin if he wants to find his way into the Chase. Pocono hasn't been one of his favorite tracks throughout his career but he needs to make a move starting this week.
